History

The Jamestown Audubon Nature Photography Contest began in 2009 as a way to provide area photographers with the opportunity to display their work in a major venue, have it judged, and (yes, we cannot tell a lie) generate a little money for Audubon’s educational programs.

The first contest asked for photos taken within 100 miles of Audubon to feature the beauty of the natural world in our region.

The 2010 contest asked for photos taken specifically on Audubon’s 600-acre sanctuary.

"Look Ma - No Hands" - by Terry Lorenc - 2011 Finalist

In 2011, we opened the contest to the world by choosing to celebrate the wonderful animals with which we share this planet.

The 2012 contest details have been worked and there are several changes, not the least of which is, the contest will require an electronic submission. There will be three categories: Wildlife, Plants/Trees/Fungi, and Landscapes. There will be two divisions – youth: 18 and under or still in high school, and adult: over 18 or post high school.

So keep on shooting.
